- The F-80 Shooting Star was the first jet fighter used operationally by the United States Army Air Forces. It had a conventional all-metal airframe, with a straight wing and tricycle landing gear. It was the first operational jet aircraft to have its engine in the fuselage. It saw limited action in World War II, but as the first American jet airplane to be manufactured in large quantities, it saw extensive combat action in the Korean War.
- Shooting Star FT-547, named "Evil Eye Fleagle / Miss Barbara Ann" was assigned to the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing based at Suwon Air Base.
